Kami Kenna is a master’s candidate in the Food Studies program at New York University’s Steinhardt School with a focus on the ancestral beverages of Latin America, environmental as well as cultural sustainability, supply chain justice, and entrepreneurship.
She is a spirits brand owner, a distiller, and a beverage designer that fervently believes that beverages can drive positive change toward a better food system.
After achieving a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Portland State University, she won a trip to Peru from a bartending competition. In a leap of faith, she sold everything and decided to move there. In Peru, Kami became an owning partner of PiscoLogía, a women-owned Peruvian pisco brand, where she is in charge of marketing, outreach, and cocktail design. In 2016, a highly regarded agave spirits tour outfit took her to Mexico where she is the senior tour coordinator leading spirits focussed tours in Jalisco and Oaxaca.
On the weekends you will find Kami brewing kombucha, designing her dream distillery, and walking with her pup, Chispa!
